Amputain is a conceptual pharmaceutical that would soothe the pain caused by phantom limb syndrome. This project involved a lot of in-depth research of Phantom Limb syndrome, currently theories on what causes it, what it feels like and current treatment.
The idea behind the product name “Amputain” in combining the words amputee, and pain. The physical effects of Phantom Limb syndrome are still widely underestimated, and the first step towards understanding the issues is simply by ignoring that, yes, the amputated limb is still sending pain signals.
The illustration on the back shows a partial hand with a glowing outline of fingers, a play on ‘Phantom Limbs’ and a good way to quickly and easily show what this product is meant for. On the main box, I have a description of what Phantom Limb Syndrome is, the main three benefits of the products with simple icons, and list of symptoms the product helps with, and claim support in the form of doctors’ approval. On the inside, I’ve stripped down the information to the basics; brand identity, and list of symptoms the product helps with. The hand illustration is specifically positioned so when you take off the cap, the phantom limbs go away, and representation of what our products claim to do.
